One-Stride Guidelines
The One-Stride guidelines are there to help you play successfully. One-Stride is quite a different game to most other SIMs and we have created these guidelines so that new players do not become confused. It is also vital that you read our terms of service before you start playing.

I. Registration
Registering for an account on One-Stride is very easy. When you first arrive on the site, you will see link on the main page to register. Registration is automatic and you will be able to begin playing as soon as you have registered. By creating an account you are agreeing to ALL of the terms of service (click here for the ToS).

All players begin with a "normal" account, $20,000 OSD and at Academy level 1.

It's very important to register with a valid email address as one is needed to verify your account and recover lost passwords.

II. Player Conduct & Rules
One Stride is a game for anyone and everyone, players are expected to respect each other at all times.
  • Each person is allowed one "normal" account and up to ten upgraded accounts. Anyone found accessing more than the allotted number will have their accounts reclaimed by the game staff; in extreme cases you will be banned.
  • Messages, comments in chat and comments on player estate pages (via c-boxs, et cetera) should be kept rated PG or lower (by MPAA standards) at all times.
  • Scripts, programs, and the like used to cheat, steal and/or hack will result in a banning of all accounts.
  • Any advertising for other games (sim and non-sim) should only be posted in the forum's "Other Games" board or on your estate page, and only those two places. Anyone found advertising anywhere will be reprimanded.
  • Do not spam other players, this includes but is not limited to sending any unwanted or unsolicited messages.
  • Any intolerant comments of religion, political views, race, sexual preference or the like will not be tolerated anywhere on the site.
  • Impersonating any of the staff or moderators will result in the banning of all accounts.
  • Any negative situations involving the game staff should be reported by email to admin@one-stride.net.

III. Your Estate
The Estate is your hub of in-game activity. When you visit your estate, you can see how many points you have, view your horses, send messages, update your records and more!

  • Estate:
When you go to your estate, the first thing you see is your player description. The Player description is visible to everyone on One-Stride when they view your estate. You can update it using the text area form at the bottom of your estate. All forms of HTML, CSS and Images are accepted and can be posted into your description.
    • Be sure to read all the graphics and conduct rules when personalizing and decorating your page.
    • Excessive posting of items, including but not limited to, flash games, adoptables, popups, movies, and music can result in your page being reset as the data can slow the server and cause problems on other player's computers.
*If your coding ruins/distorts the page you can reset it from the Help page.

  • Player Information:
Your information box is where you can see how much money, Golden Tokens, and Girl Scout Cookies you have, your last log-in, your player awards and your Player Points. Your Status shows what type of account you have. The level indicated shows which Academy Level you are currently at (passing Academy Levels will give you more features on the game).

  • GSC's/GT's:
Golden Tokens are purchased on the Upgrade page and can be exchanged for Girl Scout Cookies. Girl Scout Cookies can be gained by trading in Golden Tokens or earned through good behavior. To see what you can trade in your Girl Scout Cookies for visit the Girl Scout Cookie Trade-In page int he Atlas.

  • Your Stable:
Below your information box, is your stable. The horses that you own will be displayed in your stable. Pregnant mares and foals will be kept in your Foaling Box, while horses that you retire are kept in the Veteran Care Facility. You will only be able to use the Foaling Box and Veteran Care Facility (which are located in your barn) when you have achieved Academy Level 4 and purchased the facilities from the OS General Building Corporation.
    • Excessive hoarding of horses is against the rules as it can cause server issues.

  • Reserved Brands:
Players that have Diamond or Platinum accounts are able to reserve brands. If you are not a Diamond or Platinum player you are able to brand your horses with any brand as long as it is not reserved by an Diamond or Platinum player.

  • Bank:
    • Normal players get $12,000 OSD weekly allowance.
    • Diamond players get $25,000 OSD weekly allowance.
    • Platinum players get $30,000 OSD weekly allowance.
    • The bank is used to collect your weekly allowance, transfer money, horses and GSCs, and trade in GTs for GSCs.
    • One GT is equal to three GSCs.

IV. Barn Information
When you reach Academy Level 4, you will be able to open a barn. Barns allow you to breed your horses and organize your account more effectively. Once you have created your barn, you will be able to buy facilities and extra land to enhance your farm. You can also add an HTML description to your barn to display a page that is viewable to the players.

Covering Box:
  • Allows you to put your stallion up for stud and view breeding requests for all of your stallions.

  • Allows you to submit breeding requests for your mares.
  • Players can search for available stallions.
  • Foaling Blocks are required to house pregnant mares and new born foals.
Fenced Paddock:
  • Allows you to turn your horses out.
  • While turned out for 2 hours, horses will gain between 2-20 traits in any random area.
  • You are able to release all horses before the time is up but by doing this they will not gain any traits.
Veteran Care Facility:
  • Allows you to retire your horses so you don’t need to purchase a 'retirement account'.
  • You will still be able to edit your horse's information, but it will no longer be displayed on your main estate page.
  • Players are able to click on "Your Retired Horses" from your estate.
  • Horses must be 25 or older to enter the facility.

  • Horses age one year every week. They cannot be shown after the reach age 23 and are not able to breed after age 25.
  • Horses need to see the vet and farrier once a week. You will be charged $20 OSD for every vaccine administered or every farrier action.
  • Horses can be euthanize after the age of 25 (if the horse has no foals it will be deleted completely, if it has foals it will be considered dead but records of the horse itself will not be deleted). The retirement button will send the horse to account #3 (the Retirement account).
  • Every now and again a horse will have an emergency. When this happens, check the players online and see what vet/farriers are available. You will be charged $725 OSD for the Vet and $525 for the Farrier.
  • Once a horse is 8 years old or older they can be graded (given a rating for quality). The best rating is Universal Champion, the worst is Failing.

  • If your coding ruins/distorts the horse page you can reset it from the Help page.
Training:
  • There are 4 types of shows: Experience, Event, Association Shows and Barn shows.
  • Horses cannot show until any emergencies have been fixed and they've received the weekly vaccines and farrier care.
  • Trait points are increased by daily care from the Care Center (located under the Health Certificate tab on a horse's page) and placing in shows. Diamond and Platinum players can also add traits daily to the horse of their choice. They are also able to use the fenced paddock which will also increase one certain trait area each time it is used.
  • Experience shows are made by the game. Each level contains 30 classes made by the game each day at 12pm CST.
  • Horses entered into experience shows gain two experience points per entry or four if the horse's owner is a Diamond or Platinum player.
  • Horses entered into an event show that are owned by Diamond or Platinum players get 1 show point per entry, normal players' horses don't receive any for entering.
  • For the best results train daily in as many shows and types of shows as possible.
Breeding:
  • In order to breed you must have a barn and a foaling block.
  • Horses must be graded before they can breed.
  • To breed you need to go to: Barn > Foaling Block (if it has been purchased) > You will then enter the stallions ID and the request will be sent to the owner to be approved. You can also search for available stallions on the Foaling Block page.
  • To accept a breeding request go to Barn > Covering Box (if it has been purchased) > There will be a link to your stud and the mare requesting the breeding, you are able to then accept or deny the request.
  • A mare is pregnant for 8 days.
  • Certain color horses can produce RARE colors. Some are more easy to obtain than others.
  • Horses with higher genetic scores pass on better genetic scores to their offspring.
  • A foal does not inherit a mare or stallion's experience or show points, foals are all potential.
  • Trait points, on the other hand, are inheritable.
  • Twins and lethal white foals are possible.
  • More about colors and foaling here.
